FAQ’s about renting Villa Alina
Who can rent the property?
Perhaps the most important aspect to note regarding the rental of Villa Alina is that it is a family home which has been lovingly renovated as a traditional Portuguese style villa complete with antique furniture, luxury soft furnishings and fully equipped kitchens.
We expect all our guests, including children, to have respect for the house, its contents, our staff and any others guests who may be staying at the adjoining property.
There are 4 bedrooms in the house sleeping a maximum of 10 guests and a further 2 connected bedrooms sleeping another 4 people. 14 is the maximum allowed to stay at the Villa. The house and extra 2 bedrooms are always rented to the same party. We do not rent out room by room but whole house only.
We agree to rent the property only to named guests. Third Party rental is strictly prohibited. Rental is based on guests reading and agreeing to our full Terms & Conditions (T&Cs). The lead guest will be required to sign a T&Cs Agreement on arrival at the house when checking in.
I am renting Villa Alina and would like a few of my friends/relatives to stay at the house during my stay. Is this OK?
No, we only rent to named guests at the time of booking due to our health, safety and insurance rules. If more guests arrive than are registered, the House Manager has the right to turn the extra guests away or extra charges will be incurred if the House Manager agrees that they can stay.
Can I rent the house for one night only?
No. The house can be rented for a minimum of 4 nights. The minimum amount to be paid is always 4 nights rent.
What is the amount required for the refundable deposit?
£300/RS.30,000 – which has to be paid in advance or to the House Manager in cash when checking in.
How far is the property from the airport?
Approximately 40km. It takes around an hour to get to Villa Alina.
Official taxis can be rented from the airport – there is a government run kiosk just inside as well as outside the main terminal. However, if you would like to be collected in a large air-conditioned vehicle with seat belts, please let us know and we will endeavour to organise this service for you and advise of the cost.
How easy is it to get taxis and are they expensive?
Taxis are very cheap by UK prices. In fact, it is quite normal to have a taxi stay with you all day and wait around while you shop, lunch, snooze, etc. Please refer to the house and Cottage information book for taxi drivers that we use all the time. They can be booked in advance, whilst in Goa, or you can walk a couple of minutes up Holiday Street to find a taxi.
Most taxis are Maruti’s which seat 4 people legally. Please ask our house manager if you want to hire an air-conditioned vehicle, bigger car or jeep. Also contact us, if you would like to have a full time taxi driver during your stay.
Are there any trips that we can book?
Yes. There are a number of trips that can be booked. Old Goa, Spice Plantation, Waterfall, Cashew Nut factory, Day trips to other beaches like Morjim, Mandrem, Arambol, Vagator, etc Please liaise with the House Manager. All additional payments are to be made to the House Manager.
Is there a maid service?
Yes, there is a daily maid service.
Our house manager will also be available to assist.
PLEASE NOTE: The maid is employed by the owners for daily cleaning of rooms ONLY.
This is a self catering property and any additional cleaning (e.g. cleaning the kitchen after cooking and meals) is the responsibility of the guests.
If you would like to hire a cook or maid for extra duties, please contact us prior to your arrival and we will try to employ extra staff for your stay. There will be an additional charge for this service.
How often is cleaning per week?
The maid will clean the house daily. Bedrooms will be cleaned in the mornings. Linen and towels are changed every three days. If a room is occupied, it might not be cleaned. Please arrange a suitable time with the house manager. An additional washing and ironing service MAY be available for personal laundry items. This has to be agreed and arranged with the house manager and separate charges apply.
Will I have to share the swimming pool with other guests?
No. The house and subsequently swimming pool are only rented to one party. We do not rent the house room by room.
Are linen and towels / pool towels included in price?
Yes. Bed linen and towels/pool towels are provided and will be changed every three days.
Separate pool towels will be provided and are the responsibility of the guests.
Please do not use bedroom towels at the pool. Please do not take any towels from the property to the beach.
Guests should provide their own beach towels.
Are there any cots or high chairs for babies and infants?
Yes there are 2 cots and one high chair. Please request for these in advance.
Is there a cook available?
The maid can do light cooking. This has to be agreed and arranged with the house manager and separate charges apply. Bear in mind that there are many great restaurants right on our doorstep.
If you would like to employ a full time cook for your stay, please contact us and we will endeavour to find one for your stay.Please note a continental breakfast is included in your stay.
Is there Air Conditioning?
The 6 bedrooms in the house have A/C. A/C is included in the price but only if guests agree to use it sensibly and ONLY while they are occupying the room. Leaving it on all day may cause power loss due to overuse.
Please remember this is India and the house is built on the beach, so electrical goods need extra care and maintenance.
How far is the Villa from the beach by car?
You do not need a car; the sea is a five minute walk from the villa. The house is built on beach sand and you can watch the fantastic Goan sunset from our balcony.
How far to restaurants and shops?
Some of the best restaurants are within walking distance of the house. It is a 15 minute taxi ride to the main Calangute area. Please refer to the house information book for lots of tips and recommendations of places to visit. We would also like you to add any of your “finds”. As we visit Goa many times during the year, we have compiled an up to date list of information. Once you have booked, we will email you “Villa Alina’s Unofficial Guide to Goa”.
Is final cleaning included in price?
Yes; unless, in our house manager’s opinion, the property is left in an unacceptable state, whereby, cleaning and breakages charges will be deducted from the deposit.
Will I be safe in the Villa?
We have a 24 hour security guard who is stationed by the front gate. He will be patrolling the grounds throughout the day and evening. Additionally, CCTV is in operation around the Villa to maintain safety and security.
We have security safes installed in each room. We advise you to use these safes to store all valuables and personal belongings including passports etc. We cannot accept responsibility or liability for any valuables that are not deposited and are lost, stolen or damaged. All items are left out at the owner’s risk.
